Our mission is to provide diabetes management with a strong emphasis on independence, peer learning, and relationship building for emotional support.
Our Mission
Our Health Doctrine
Diabetes care at Camp is very different from diabetes care at home. Our top priority is the health and safety of every camper. Many factors can affect blood glucose levels at Camp and requires the medical team to estimate normal levels while being vigilant to prevent hypoglycemia. Our medical staff works with each camper individually to adjust insulin levels and food intake as needed, and ensure camper safety during high intensity activities such as swimming, hiking, waterfront, and challenge courses.
Campers also take an active role in making decisions about their care. Under the care of licensed medical staff, campers are introduced to new diabetes management skills while fine tuning their existing knowledge.
We recommend discussing your needs and daily activity levels with our medical staff during check-in.
Our Medical Staff
All health professionals at Camp are licensed to practice in the State of California. Many are involved in diabetes care in their local communities during the year when Camp isn’t in session.
Camp is staffed with medical professionals who are experienced in diabetes care, including registered nurses and a certified nutritionist coach.
In addition to our team of medical professionals, we are also supported by many volunteers from local Lions Clubs who donate their time to make camp possible.
Lions Diabetes Camp is proud to partner with Lions Clubs International and local Lions Clubs across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties (District 4-L5). Lions Clubs International and the Lions Clubs International Foundation are dedicated to empowering Lions and Leos around the world to fight diabetes by serving their communities.
